Despite being quite genteel and refined, Hotel Endsleigh in Devon is also quite child friendly.

The garden is, simply put, magical. There’s loads of things to see on your walks, including waterfalls, a rockery and arboretum. You can challenge the family to a game of table tennis, croquet or giant jenga or spend a lazy afternoon fishing for trout. There’s a local falconer who will bring the show to the garden (how amazing!), and you can borrow wellies to take a stroll. Archery can be arranged upon request or you can jump on your bike and explore. Tree surfing is available and sure to be a big hit with the kids.

The library comes equipped with children’s books, games and DVDs. Children’s tea is available from 6PM and children aged 6 and over is welcome to dine with their parents in the dining room. Private dinners can be arranged and they can arrange babysitting.

This is, quite simply, one of the very best places to holiday in the U.K.
